Friendship Tea Set

Back in the beginning of January, my husband and I went to Salt Spring Island to make some major decisions. The result of that time away was that I resigned my position at my place of work as of the end of February. I know that in "these hard economic times", in this recession, that might seem like a stupid thing to do, unless you value certain things in life more than the security of a job.

I do not feel that I have fully recovered since surgery in September, and I have been dealing with many sinus infections which drain my energy. I want to leave a legacy of love and faith for my children and grandchildren, and I want to regain my energy. Those are the main priorities in my life, and I do not feel I can focus on those nor accomplish them while working full time in a position which often has high stress and demands a great deal of energy, even if I do love the environment and people there. So, I gave my resignation.

Yesterday, a group of women from work (BLOOM) who consider me a "girlfriend" had a special surprise event for me. They read encouraging quotes, poems, gave many affirmations of my place in their lives, and presented me with this friendship tea set and book. I was just overwhelmed! To think that they would make the effort to affirm my decision, and let me know I would be missed was indeed a very touching thing for me. Every time I use this tea set, I will remember them and how kind and loving they were toward me.

Once I am at home full time, I plan to do a ton more painting and photography! I will be blogging more, and be working toward achieving those goals I set last month. I am looking forward to sleeping in, walking outside when it warms up, and doing things that "put wind in my sails". Oh yes - I plan to have friends in for tea and coffee. This set will get used often. Afterall, what is more important than family, friends and health?

Thank you Veronica. I know you understand well how important it is to be healthy, have time for family and friends while being in your "sweet spot" with your creativity. Soon we will have that coffee date!

Cynthia - you are right. Good friends are a wonderful thing as Kim has enjoyed with you! And yes, you are right! Tea will be extra sweet coming from a tea set given with love. We'll have to test it out - you, me and Ginny! :-)
