"JOY" - a work in progress

Some time ago, a good friend e-mailed me a picture of his daughter-in-law and grandchildren having a blast at the beach. (Thanks, Dave!) This watercolor painting is my interpretation of that moment captured in time - pure joy in all 3 children and their mother as they play at the beach.

There is still quite a bit of work to be done in this painting, but I am loving how it is coming along.  It is 12" x 15", and once matted and framed, will make a beautiful scene. Oh yes - by the way - the children are my grandchildren too! :-)

If you have a picture of a moment in time you would like painted, contact me for a commissioned piece (jogiesbrecht@gmail.com) . I would love to work with you to preserve your memory in the beauty of a painting!

This is going to be a wonderful painting! And not just because I took the picture. Can hardly wait to see the finished product.

"Happy¡" A direct quote from your 21 month-old grandbaby who recognized everyone in the picture already.

Hi Dave! When I work from photos, it makes my work so much easier to start with a really great composition, and this one is just that! The moment you sent it to me, I knew it would one day be a painting! Stay tuned for the "final product!"

Hey Kim,
I was absolutely astonished that without any prompting Zayzee recognized this as you and the kids at the beach! I love that he said "Happy!" as I had already named it "Joy" thinking that it just looks like so much happiness is in each person's body language... you have one very intelligent 21 month old!!! :-)

HI Akiko,

Yes - this painting is trying to express the love captured in this moment, AND it is painted from a heart filled with love for the people in it! I visited your Etsy store the other day - WOW! You are one talented and prolific artist! Thank you for stopping by and commenting!

Hey Michelle,
Yes - this one is going to be a favorite I think. I like what you've been doing lately... I am waiting to hear how things go for you back on EBay. I wish you well!
