5" x 6" watercolor on Arches 300 lb. paper
On one of the days when we actually had decent weather (in the high teens and sunny), I set this still life up outside so that I could get a photo to paint from. I am pleased with the result - the painting is "filled with light", and it looks warm and bright... just as it was for two days a loooong time ago! (I live in the land of eternal winter. *sigh*)

I love the reflection, the pattern and the light - you have captured that warth for sure! Beautiful.
At first glance, I thought this was a photo. Very nice painting. I think I'm going to have some lemon tea tomorrow.
I'm make eggplant, inspired by your eggplant photo below, right this minute. Just put it in the oven. It smells divine. ;-)

Thank you Michelle - so glad you like it. *blush*
Paz - You are too funny! Lemon tea is waiting here for you any time you get up this way! Hope the eggplant tastes good to you, too. :-)
Nevermind what the calendar says or what the weatherman says. On your table it's sunny, bright and spring!
What a wonderful piece- the compliments of color, the shadows, the precise yet thoughtful brushwork.
You really captured this so beautifully.
Great painting, you handled all those little sections in the tablecloth and lemon beautifully and made this piece shine. Give this gal more sun, she knows what to do with it!
Nice talking to you again Joanne.
Hi Joanne,
I was so delighted by your comments :) Thank You. And now I have found your blog and web site! Beautiful art work and photography, I will visit often and learn.
Blessings to you, Anni
PS My friend liked her gift...Whew!
Beautiful watercolor, Joanne. Also like your color wheel and demo of complementary pairs. I remember doing lots of them in classes! Your paintings are gorgeous! Best regards, Liz
Bonnie,
You are so kind in your comments! I did enjoy doing this one - it just came together very quickly and was "right". I guess it is the cold and snow that makes me appreciate a sunny day no matter when it comes!!! I envy you your location, except for the poisonous creepy crawlies. :-)
Hey Vern,
It was great to talk to you - and I can tell you that I am finally feeling a lot better! Thanks for you encouragement - you made me laugh out loud! :-) Happy painting, Vern!
Hi Anni,
Your friend is a very blessed person to have you think of her and give her such a special work of the heart! Thanks for your visit - I will look forward to "talking" with you again... we have much in common. In fact, I began this blog because I was asked to by people who thought of me as a contemplative painter! Have a wonderful weekend.
Hi Liz,
It is nice to meet you! I take it that you were able to take art classes - lucky you!!! Thank you for your encouragement - I appreciate it very much! I will have to come and visit your blog now. Hope to "see' you again.
Hi Joanne...I spent an ejoyable time visiting your blog now: beautiful watercolors...and your watercolor tips are excellent.
Thank you Fabio for you visit and your comment. I am very honored that you like my watercolors... I admire your work so much! It is good to know from a world class artist/teacher that my techniques and tips for watercolor are going to help others. I wish I lived close enough to you to attend one of your workshops! Would you ever consider coming to Canada - to Calgary Alberta? :-) Thanks again!
Beautiful painting!
