New Work in Progress

I love Gerber flowers. They are just such cheery and "friendly" flowers, and they come in so many gorgeous, brilliant colors! This is the beginning stages of an acrylic painting of a single Gerber bloom on a 30 by 30 inch canvas. I love how brilliant and clear the red is on these petals. The main color I am using is Liquitex's Naphthol Crimson, which is a transparent pigment. I first began painting in acrylic, with Liquitex paints, and I have pretty much stuck to this brand ever since. I have added a few colors from other manufacturers, but the majority of my acrylics are Liquitex. I understand how they work, at least for me.

Check back to see this one finished and ready to sell.

She'll be a lovely black-eyed lady. Can't wait to see her finished. I know someone who would love this piece.

This one will be gorgeous! By the way, I wanted to thank you for the watercolor tips and tricks posts. I printed them off and only got around to reading them this morning, but they were very helpful. Information I've never seen anywhere else. Thanks!

Hi Kim,
Yes - I think this one will be very beautiful. I have no clue who you have in mind that might love this piece - can you give me a hint? :-)

Hi Lee Ann,

THANK YOU for letting me know that you found the H2O techniques/tips helpful!!! I wondered if I should continue with these postings as after 3 weeks I was not seeing a huge response - but as long as there are some people benefitting, I will continue for a while longer! :-) Thanks, too, for the response to this work in progress. I am now off to visit your blog!

Hi Janet,
(Is this my really good friend Janet W????)
I did some more work on this painting today - adding more depth of color to those top petals, and it is beginning to look really good... I'll keep posting it as it progresses. :-) Thanks for stopping by my blog, and for commenting!

Lovely! Gerbera daisies are my all-time favorite flower! (Almost all of my wedding flowers were gerberas and some of my favorite paintings of my own are also gerberas.)
