Garden Produce... SAVOY CABBAGE

SAVOY CABBAGE
6" x 6" - 140 lb. Arches paper
framed

Yep - it's that time of year again! The garden is producing and we are enjoying every bit of it! However, I do have a confession to make. Savoy Cabbage is not something I have in my garden. In fact, I don't grow cabbage at all as we eat so few of them and they take up quite a bit of space. This beautiful specimen came straight from the grocery store to my table - my art table that is!

Truly, a Savoy Cabbage has to be one of THE most incredible-looking veggies ever! When I saw it with all its veining, I knew I had to paint it! Of course, we also got to eat it later on - this is a "sweet" cabbage compared to some others. It was delicious wilted until tender in a bit of butter/oil with salt and pepper alongside of some turkey sausage and sweet potatoes. The beautiful green beside the orange of the sweet potato and meat-color of the sausage was very appealing.

Holy Moly that is one gorgeous cabbage!
The puckers, the craters, the essence of the mother of all cabbages in my opinion and to my taste buds.

You've done an outstanding job of portraying the characteristics of that vegetable.
