Laura Cumming has written a wonderful article in The Guardian about being an artist at various ages throughout life. She looks at famous artists throughout recent history for her examples, showing how all artists struggle with similar challenges and emotions, no matter their age. It is well worth reading, and was an encouragement to me. I love this quote from Cuban-born painter Carmen Herrera:
“You don’t decide to be an artist, art gets inside of you. It’s like falling in love.”
