Textured Acrylic Painting

Textured Acrylic
8" x 8" canvas
This beautiful 8" x 8" acrylic was lots of fun to do. I sure wish the golds sparkled in the photo the way they actually do in "real life"! The red is a deep Alizarin Crimson, and with the bright gold on top, it is a striking piece!

With this little gem, I have completed 80 paintings this year! I would NEVER have thought that was possible in my wildest dreams, but it has happened!

I have another small piece on the go, and a second commission to start on. I'm not sure if they will be complete before the end of 2010. However, I am happy with the amount of time I was able to spend in the studio this year, and the exceeding of all the goals I set myself in February. I am grateful for the support of friends, family, collectors old and new. I am deeply contented with being an artist, and loving the life I have been given. Challenges, surprises, disappointments, excitement, hard work, teaching others what I know... it has all enriched my life and made me appreciate how I have been blessed.

I pray each of you has a wonderful and meaningful Christmas and holiday season. May health and happiness, friends and family bless your days. Merry Christmas, everyone!

Copper Textured Acrylic

Untitled
12" x 12" textured acrylic on canvas

Here is the second in this series of larger textured acrylics, using iridescent paints. It is raining and cold outside, so I had to take this photo under the studio lights, but it certainly shows the texture and the coppery lights and highlights which glow in this painting.

On another note, this weekend I will be involved in an art show with 4 of my paintings, and one pie (the entry fee!). It promises to be a great show - and I am looking forward to seeing all the fall colors as I drive further into the country to reach Perrenoud Ranche where the show is being held. If you live in the Calgary area, I hope to see you there!

NEW TEXTURED ACRYLIC

Untitled
12" x 12" textured acrylic on canvas

I have begun another textured acrylic series, this time with the iridescent color of copper. This series is also on larger canvasses - 12" x 12" so the paintings have quite a bit more visual impact. I am really pleased with how this first one has turned out...

I haven't named this piece yet. If you have a name you think would suit, let me know in a comment here. I would love to have your input. :-)

Wedding Gifts, last 2 paintings

Here are the last 2 of the wedding gift commission.

In this painting you can see all of the colors which were a part of the paintings - the navy, silver, cream, purple, bronze and green.

This painting was the favorite of my family... the heads of the flowers were created with a different medium from that which was applied to the canvas, then adhered to the background. The stems for each of the flowers was cut into the background medium, and painted deep green inside the slit with a very tiny brush.

The bride and groom told me that they were very happy with the paintings, liking that 3 were totally abstract, and 3 more image oriented.

The wedding/reception/Sunday BBQ were fun to attend! I was a part of the choir for the wedding ceremony, and created paintings for each of the wedding attendants which the couple presented to them as their thank you gift. What a privilege to be so involved!
