Sneak Preview of next series of paintings

                       First Blush
             5.5" x 5.5" unframed - watercolor
                    140 lb. Arches paper

I had a fabulous time in Campbell River, Vancouver Island, B.C. with my sister and brother-in-law. We did lots of exploring of many unique places, I walked almost everyday to the beach, took over 700 photos, and ate like a queen (lots of seafood)! Both of my flights were smooth, and I even got to talk photography with another photographer the entire flight there. )If you are reading this Rick, I want to know that you are working on that blog!!! :-) )

But now it is back to "reality" - laundry, meals, gardening, and of course, painting!

This is the first painting in my next set of collectable art. In this series, there will be 3 apples, all 7" x 7" in their cute little white frames. I will be posting the rest of the paintings later this week.

As always, let me know if you are interested in purchasing this set. Each painting is $25.00 individually, $47.50 for two, or $72.00 for all 3, plus shipping and handling. These frames are quite light, so shipping costs will be minimal.

Pink Ladies All in a Row

Pink Ladies All in a Row
                    11.5" x 15"
original watercolor on 300 lb. Arches paper

I really like eating apples - and the fact that we can get so many different varieties throughout the year is wonderful! I know my daughter, who lives in Mexico, used to crave apples when she first moved there as apples were either not available or too expensive to buy. We are so blessed with all the fruit and vegetables we can purchase year round if we choose to.

These are Pink Ladies. A couple of years ago I bought some of these yummy apples and set up a still life which I took many photos of. I then painted a small version of this painting (slightly different composition and much smaller painting) which sold at one of the shows I was in that year. I am again preparing for a juried show which is in October, and this will be one of the paintings I submit for acceptance into the show. Hopefully the judges like apples too. :-)

Of course, I am always happy to paint your favorite fruit for you as well! If you are interested in commissioning a painting, please contact me: jogiesbrecht@gmail.com

Pink Ladies

This kind of apple is a very sweet, crisp beauty, with firm, pinkish toned flesh. I bought a few the other day, and decided they should be painted as well as eaten!
