At my art show in November, one person loved the first part of this duo - the painting on the right. However, she really wanted a companion piece which had a fence on the other side. It didn't make sense to me to have a short and narrow field with a fence, so I came up with having a country road as part of the painting, with a fence bordering it. Here is the finished diptych, ready for delivery.

One of the things I am learning about painting with oils is that I need to be patient. It takes time for layers to dry... and you can't hurry the process. Oil paints dry by oxidation - and whether it is cold, hot, humid, dry does not seem to affect the rate at which the medium dries. So, unless I want to work in thick layers, I need to wait. Wait. Wait. So progress seems slow - but I think I am closing in on finishing this diptych. Just another week of working and waiting, and I think it will be ready to show to the client. I think she will be very pleased. :-)
