Still painting - tulips

Well, it has been a slow last 2 weeks as far as painting goes. Last weekend, My husband and I took a trip to visit with my father-in-law, who is quite ill, and this week has been very busy with work - so I didn't get to work on this piece as much I would have liked. However, after putting in many hours this weekend, I feel it is getting a lot closer to being finished. This has been quite an experience to tackle a very large piece, but it has taken me a LOOOOONG time to get this one done with all that life brings and a full time job! Do any of you face similar challenges?

A Watercolor Work in Progress

 I thought you might like to see my current work in progress. I think I am about half way to completion on this 26" high by 42" wide transparent watercolor commission. To give you an idea of size, every one of the tulips is larger than my fist! I will soon be blocking in the wicker furniture, then detailing certain areas of focus. I love the composition of this piece - how the leaves create action and draw you around the painting and to the tulips. The shadow on the wicker table pulls you from the outer tulips to the vase, and the shadows in the vase pull you back up to the leaves. I am looking forward to seeing how the rest of the creating process plays out.
