My daughter and her family return to Mexico tomorrow, and I will return to my easel to begin my commissioned piece. I am happy to have something to pour myself into - it will be very, very quiet around my house once they have left. It is so difficult to live far away from loved ones!
When I lived in the Maritimes, I found that walking along a foggy beach was an experience that provided me with contemplative thinking time. Here in Alberta, the mountains can provide that same experience for me, especially when they are mysteriously blanketed with moving mist and clouds. Misty Mountain captures one such moment in time.

What a peaceful feel in this photo Joanne. Banff looks like a great place. Is that near where you are?
I know what you mean about living far from loved ones. I have the same issues. We got my parents a camera for their computer this Christmas so we can talk on line for free. You should try that. The next best thing to being there.

I love your photo! Thanks for the kind words you left at my blog. The last month has been kind of rough because I've had some bad flair ups with my arthritis. I like your slideshow of images. How did you get that on your blog? I'm not too techno-savy so I don't know if I could do something like that.

Thanks for visiting me again, and Happy New Year! The slideshow is simple to install as you just have to follow instructions.
When you sign in to your blog, the first page that comes up is Blog Buzz (I think that's what it is called). You will need to go to the archives, to November. There you will see a section called Slideshow, and you just read and install from there.
I hope you can get one up and running for your site. I love it because it takes the photos from my archived postings and continues to show them so that people do not have to do much to see all my work to date. I wish you success with this, and look forward to visiting your blog to see it in action! :-)
We spend two weeks in June on the Bay of Fundy in Parrsboro, Nova Scotia. My husband's mother was from Diligent River which is about 40 miles 'downshore' from Parrsboro. For a painter it's wonderfully remote and unspoiled but economically, the area suffers having been bypassed by Trans Canada 2.

I know the area that you speak of - I spent part of my childhood in Yarmouth and in Amherst, Nova Scotia. The beauty of that coast line is only fully appreciated through being there! And you are so right about the economy of places off the highway - one wonders how many people survive. Were you inspired through your visit? I often think I would love to take a 2 month trip through all of the Maritimes and just paint/photograph the things I loved about living there. Thanks for your visit! Talk to you again.
