the long road

I was so optimistic earlier in the year that Spring was just around the corner, but not any more. Do you see the little bit of green which is in the bottom of this picture? That is all the encouragement we have that spring will eventually come! For the last 2 weeks or more, we have had cold temperatures, more snow than the rest of the winter, treacherous roads, and discouraging weather forecasts. For 3 days now, it has been warm enough that the snow is mostly gone, and now I hear there is cold and even perhaps snow in the forecast again this week! It has been a long road into spring this year. Fortunately I have hope of warmth and sunshine in the near future - but only because we will be headed south on a couple of weeks of holidays soon. I am now counting the days - 12 - until we enter the belly of the great bird which will fly us away to the beauty of greenness, color in flowers and trees, and the laughter of children and family members. I can't wait!!!!

The simplicity of this photograph is striking. Love how you use lighting in your images!

You know, I'm going to be pretty choked if you go on your trip and it snows here while you are gone. I will be blaming you for somehow bringing that about. ;)

Ha! Ha! You would think it would be a definite no brainer that there couldn't be snow in May - but this year I think anything is possible! I'll be thinking of you as we swelter in 37 degrees of pure bliss!!! :-)

It's snowing right now in Prince George and I'm wondering if Spring will ever come.
Have a great time down south, warmed by climate and family.

This really is a lovely photo, Joanne. It makes things looks warmer are here than they really are!

Oh Dave, I am so sorry that you too are suffering the same as we are with snow when it should be green and warm! Maybe there should be thoughts of a trip south for you too??? :-)

Hi Veronica,
I am hoping that after waking to a white covered ground this morning that it will become warmer from this point on! Take care to stay healthy, friend!

That is too bad that it is still so cold for you Joanne.
Soon.
It is a great photo though.

Hi Frank,
Wow... your blog is sure attracting a lot of attention these days! IBy the time I get there so many people have commented I feel like I have nothing to add. Rest assured, I check it out every week - you are a great teacher even over the internet!

We are flying to GDL next Friday. I hear it is between 30 and 37 degrees Celsius right now, so we are really looking forward to escaping the great white north and joining you in the land of "warm". Things are really crazy trying to wrap up work, entertain company, and other stuff to get ready - so I am having a hard time squeezing in any painting. I have one on the easel that I will post just before we leave...

Take care, Frank.

Hi Joanne. Yes, it has been nice and toasty, just they way I like it. I don't know if they have had any rain over in GDL. but we have had a little here.
Have a great trip.

Love your photo. It is nice that you have a trip to look forward too. It is a bit rainy in my neck of the woods, but there are signs of spring all around. So, while you prepare for your trip, I'm sending good thoughts and signs of spring from here to you. ;-)

Hi Theresa,

Thank you for your visit... your watercolors are spectacular! You have a very bright future ahead of you!!! How are you enjoying Geneva? After being in the Philippines, it must be quite a change. But I imagine it gives you much different subject matter to tackle.

Keep in touch, Theresa. I'll be visiting your site as soon as I get back from holidays to see what is new with you. Till then, happy painting! :-)

Thank you for visiting my website and for the wonderful comments! You are so sweet and you've made my day!

I love Switzerland and the beautiful blooms in the spring. Well, I have to say, it's beautiful all year round. I'm so lucky to get to live here for a while. I have never been to Mexico but I'd love to go there someday. Enjoy! And keep in touch!
