"EGGPLANTS"
6.5 inches x 8.5 inches unframed
300 lb. Arches watercolor paper
A couple of weeks ago, I went grocery shopping at Costco. When I go to Costco, most of my grocery bill is from fresh fruits and veggies. This trip they had these baby eggplants which were just at their peak. They were "gorgeous" - if you can call a vegetable gorgeous! I love it when I can paint something and then eat it... yummy!
I am loving how true the colors turn out when I am able to scan a painting like this one!

Sweet! (If you can call veggies sweet!)
Thanks Kim - and yes! some veggies are sweet! :-)
So beautiful! The purple skin is shining and alive! And you are a healthy lady, eating your vegetables...
You use the most bright and vibrant colors in your paintings. Just beautiful!
Thanks, Theresa, for the comment. I do try to eat lots of veggies - and I actually ENJOY them! :-) lol
Cynthia,
Thank you for your support... you are too kind!
I love the glossy surface and those rich purple hues. Beautiful!
Thanks, Michelle! It was fun to create that eggplant purple color with my paints! Did I ever tell you that I LOVE color???? :-)
These ARE gorgeous. Wonderful painting. They look so real, makes me hungry.
Paz
P.S. did you make anything with the eggplants afterwards?
Thank you Paz! We love roasted veggies, so peppers, eggplants, garlic and tomatoes often end up accompanying whatever meat we might be having for supper! Unfortunately, we don't often have onion as it causes my husband to get migraine headaches... but we survive without! :-)
What a splendid rendering of eggplants. You really showed off their shiny, leathery skins so well.
They're great subjects for painting and equally, for roasting.
Can't say the same about live models!
Hi Bonnie!
Glad you like the painting! Yes - live models won't just sit there and not move while you paint them, plus I have found they can be a bit tough!!! Thanks for the visit. :-)
