Photographs to Paint

As an artist, there is nothing so sweet as hearing people comment on a piece of my work - that they are particularly drawn to it, or are interested in the technique used to paint it, the color combinations, or that it brings back a childhood memory and so on.

But right along side of that is the sweet feeling of having friends and family think of me when they have taken a photo, wanting to give me their creativity so that I can paint it! I have received photos of some amazing subject matter - hippos emerging from a floating body of green plants with their heads glistening from the water, a white rhino, rare white lions, several types of beautiful variegated hostas, and flowers. These are definitely going to be some of my future paintings.

If you have a photo that you think would make good subject matter for my future work, why not send it to me at jogiesbrecht@gmail.com? You never know when it might show up as a completed work on my blog! Or, if you have a photo that you would like to commission me to paint, don't hesitate to contact me. I enjoy working to ensure my clients receive a painting which brings them joy for years to come. You can see one such work on my website, named Red Tulip Day.

Have a great long weekend!

This picture was one I took of the beautiful vegetation surrounding us when we were in Nuevo Vallarta in August. The colors and lushness were spectacular!
