Sunrise 1

Sunrise 1
12" x 12"
oil on canvas

With this painting I have begun a series of smaller paintings depicting many of the photos I have taken of sunrises, sunsets, and Chinook skies. The most spectacular skies are in the spring and fall, when the sky is dark as the sun comes up or goes down. In summer, the sun comes up way too early (the birds start singing outside my bedroom by 3:30 a.m.). It also sets very late - the sky is still light enough to be outside at 10:00 p.m.

As with Alberta Blue, this is the sky and tree silhouette I see from my back deck, just outside my kitchen window. How blessed I am to enjoy this fantastic view!

It's hard for me to imagine a painting of bare trees against a sky that I WOULDN'T like, but the colors on this one make it a real knockout! Another fine job, Joanne!
