BABY SUNFLOWER ON THE EASEL

A few weeks ago, Costco had some beautiful sunflowers in - just a few bunches. I bought one, and it had a couple of very interesting blooms that I photographed and have begun to paint in acrylic.

This baby sunflower, so much smaller than the others, had great movement in the petals and leaves, which makes for a great composition.

This is the first pass at underpainting the petals and the leaves. The size is 12" x 12", so it's going to be a sweet little companion to the other flowers that begged to be painted from this bunch. They will come a bit later...
