Rooster's Pride

For the past 3 weeks, I have been painting sets for a local Christmas drama that takes place next weekend. Two of the panels were 7' x 7' panels of painted bricks. I think I am done with bricks for a while! It feels good to be back at my easel, painting in a much smaller scale, and choosing my own subject matter!

I thought I would post a painting I did upon returning to Canada after a trip we took to Costa Rica. During our time there, we travelled through the countryside on our way to the coast from San Jose. When we stopped at a local grocery store, I was astounded by the beauty of the rooster prancing around, and his little pea hen who was looking for insects under every leaf and piece of wood in the area. Never have I seen such color on what is considered a common bird.
I would love to go back to Costa Rica again. The beauty of the land and the people made this one of our favorite vacations ever.
If you would like to purchase this painting, or commission something similar, please contact me.

Readers - click on the image to get a true sense of this piece!!!

What a treat, I love the feathers and the hen in the background. Very lush but in a quiet way.

Beautiful - not the subject one would expect in a Costa Rican painting!!
